Owner: Transpower
After discussions with our client, Transpower, we learned that most of their tower signs were having to be replaced within the 7 years specified in their standards.
Working with their tactical engineering team, we conducted a costing exercise and found that switching to a material with a 20-25 year lifespan could save millions of dollars over the life of the assets.
The tactical engineering team subsequently updated their standards to ensure the lifetime of the signs exceeded 25 years.
Transpower was facing significant costs due to the frequent replacement of tower signs, which were only lasting 7 years. This issue resulted in high expenses for contractors’ fees, new signage, installation, administration, and the time required to carry out these replacements. Additionally, faded signage posed safety risks and potential damage to the company’s reputation.
Identimark developed an entire range of signage made from U3 fade-free material, which has a lifetime of 32+ years. This new material significantly reduced Transpower's overall signage costs, maintenance costs, and time spent on their transmission towers and poles. The updated standards ensured that the lifespan of the signs exceeded 25 years, bringing peace of mind to the client by ensuring the correct signage was in place to prevent accidents and save lives.
