The Story Behind The Project

Project Overview

Developer: Neoen | EPC: Bouygues

The Culcairn Solar Farm, located in New South Wales, is one of Australia's largest renewable energy projects, developed by Neoen and constructed by Bouygues.

The project features Nextracker's advanced solar tracking system to maximise efficiency and energy output. With extensive cabling requirements and complex installation logistics, Bouygues needed a smart, time-saving cable management solution that would reduce labour costs and streamline installation across the site.

  • 82,000 hangers installed in just 4 days (vs. expected 3-4 weeks)
  • 840,000 hangers supplied to support full-scale installation
  • Custom galvanised motor bridges designed & delivered
  • Use of durable and abrasion-resistant Rotag laser impregnated marine grade aluminium tags.
  • Labour costs significantly reduced through efficient installation
What Needed To Be Solved

Challenge

The Culcairn Solar Farm project required the installation of hundreds of thousands of cable hangers and supports to efficiently manage string cables across the solar arrays.

Key challenges included:

  • Labour efficiency: High labour costs made it critical to reduce installation time as much as possible.

  • Nextracker motor obstacles: String cables needed a secure and tidy routing system to pass over the Nextracker torque tube motors without interfering with functionality.

  • Project delays & logistics: With large contractor teams on-site, work stoppages due to delayed materials could significantly impact timelines.
How We Approached The Project

The Process

Identimark worked closely with Bouygues over a two-year product development period to design and supply a suite of cable management solutions tailored to the project's needs.

Key solutions included:

  • Nextracker-Compatible Cable Hangers – Designed specifically for the Nextracker system, these hangers allowed for rapid installation, cutting expected labour time dramatically. The first 82,000 hangers were installed in just four days—a process that was initially estimated to take three to four weeks.
  • Custom Galvanised Motor Bridges – Identimark developed bespoke galvanised steel bridges to safely guide string cables over the Nextracker motors, ensuring a tidy and secure installation that would not interfere with system movement.
  • Cable Labels & Ties – High-quality UV-resistant cable labels and coated zip ties ensured clear identification and long-term durability in harsh outdoor conditions.

To prevent potential project delays, Identimark implemented strategic delivery schedules aligned with installation milestones, ensuring that contractors had materials exactly when they needed them. As demand surged, we ramped up production, supplying a total of 840,000 hangers to keep the project moving.

The Solution We Provided

How We Helped

Through innovative product design, streamlined logistics, and efficient installation, Identimark helped Bouygues significantly reduce labour costs and accelerate project timelines.

By implementing the Nextracker-compatible hangers, the project saved weeks of labour, freeing up contractors for other critical tasks. The custom motor bridges provided a safe and standardised solution for routing cables over moving parts, improving both aesthetics and long-term system reliability.
